Bedspread or plaid: Create atmosphere and extra warmth

A bedspread or plaid is a decorative but also practical item for your bedroom! Bedspreads ensure that your duvet cover is protected from sunlight and dust. But first and foremost, a bedspread is of course a beautiful addition to your made bed. With this extra layer, you add a cozy and luxurious look to your bedroom. Especially in combination with matching pillows, you create a complete look. And if you place the bedspread over the entire bed, it also provides extra warmth.

At Bath&Living you have a wide choice of beautiful bedspreads with matching cushions in all kinds of colours and different types of textiles. Both the bedspreads and plaids as well as other bedding in our range are from the Dutch brand Vandyck . This means that the colours and styles of the bed linen are perfectly matched and there is always a match for you. Our stylists are happy to give you tips for stylishly making your bed!

    A bedspread for extra warmth

Are you someone who gets cold quickly in bed? Then it is first important to look at the materials of your bedding. For example, think of a thick quality cotton molton , a down duvet and a flannel cotton duvet cover. These are wonderfully warm materials for cold nights. For extra comfort, add a bedspread. Because: the more layers on your bed, the better the insulation. Place your bedspread over the foot end for decoration and simply pull it over you in the evening.

Not only in winter, but also in summer a bedspread can be a practical addition to your bed. If your bedroom gets a bit too warm in summer, it can be nice to sleep without a duvet. But a sheet alone is not comfortable for everyone. A nice bedspread over your sheet is perfect as a thin blanket. And as soon as you get too hot, you can easily put it off again.

    Bedspreads provide protection and atmosphere

In the morning you open the curtains and the window to let light and air into your bedroom. Unfortunately, sunlight can affect the colours of your duvet cover and dust can blow in from outside. With a bedspread you have that extra protective layer for your bed. Handy!

No matter how practical a bedspread is, you want it to look beautiful and match the decor of your bedroom and the cover of your duvet. With bedspreads and plaids, the look is often determined more by the materials they are made of than by the colours. For an ultimate cosy look, choose bedspreads with wool or acrylic. These materials are also sometimes combined with polyester in a bedspread, such as in the luxurious Home 95 bedspread with decorative fringes. This allows you to enjoy ultimate softness and the breathable quality of natural material on your bed. The cosy, woolly look makes your bed extra inviting.

In the summer months, you may be looking for a bedspread that looks a bit airier than wool. A bedspread made of linen or garment dyed cotton has a natural wrinkle and gives an elegant, rustic atmosphere. The fabric of these bedspreads is also a bit lighter and airier, just look at the Pure 68 bedspread. In addition, linen has antibacterial qualities and, like cotton, is breathable. Due to its ventilating quality, a cotton bedspread is a nice option to use as a blanket in the summer.

Would you rather choose an all-rounder that is perfect for every season? Then look at bedspreads and plaids made of 100% cotton. For example, the waffled cotton of the Home Pique has a beautiful volume and yet a wonderful suppleness. The decorative stitching in the double cotton cloth of the Pure 64 is beautiful in both winter and summer, due to the playful quilted effect.

    Different designs

It is already mentioned above; the material and stitching have an effect on the design of the bedspread or plaid. In our assortment you will find bedspreads with various patterns. For example, the Pure 10 bedspread is made with a quilted zigzag design, which gives a playful look. The Pure 82 looks a bit more chic due to the pattern of squares that is created when stitching the fabric.

A duvet cover in a solid colour or with a calm design can be nicely decorated with a mottled plaid. The Home 81 has a rustic wrinkle in the mottled fabric and the Home 95 has a woolly waffle structure that is emphasised by the mottled weave. Both plaids have fringes on the sides for an extra cosy decoration of your bedroom. The Pure 22 is woven in a honeycomb pattern which gives an interesting look.

In our assortment you will mainly find bedspreads and plaids in natural colors that can be combined in many ways. The series that have a more diverse range of colors are the Pure 10, Pure 68 and Home Pique. In these series you will also find shades such as blue, green, orange, purple and pink. With a pink bedspread you can make your bedroom more romantic in a subtle way.

    Matching cushions

Cushions can serve as accessories when decorating your bedroom. Each bedspread in our range has a matching pillowcase for a 40x55 cm cushion. Some series also include pillowcases of 60x70 cm, so they fit the regular cushions on your bed. Combine your new bedspread or plaid with cushions in the same colours and patterns for an extra luxuriously made bed.

Various sizes of bedspreads and plaids

The bedspreads in our range are generally available in the sizes 180x260 cm and 260x260 cm. The smaller versions are usually 130x220 cm or 160x260 cm and are described as plaids. If you have a double duvet and want to use a bedspread as an extra blanket, choose a large-sized bedspread. Our largest bedspreads even fall well over a double duvet, so that the sides of your mattress are always nicely covered. If you only want decoration at the foot of your bed, a small bedspread or plaid is large enough.

    Washing bedspreads

How often you should wash your bedspread depends on how you use it. Is the bedspread purely decorative at the foot of your bed? Then it probably doesn't need to go in the washing machine as often. Do you use the bedspread to sleep under or as a throw on the couch? Then regular washing is not an unnecessary luxury. Carefully read the washing instructions to maintain the quality for as long as possible.
